GRANDAS DE SALIME – PTO. DEL ACEBO (13,9 Km)
Council of Grandas de Salime
The church of San Salvador surrounds the road on the back until you return to the road, then take a beautiful road to La Farrapa, where once again the road leads to Cerexeira, from where the road that leads to Malneira leaves on the right.
The road crosses the center of the village of Malneira and from there you can soon see the town of Castro, which crosses, in the vicinity of the castro del Chao Samartín and its interpretation center. Next to the chapel of Castro, and between the houses of the town, part the way that, skirting the mountain to half hillside, it takes until the chapel of San Lázaro, rest testimonial of an old malatería and to the town of Padraira.
Follow the road AS-28 (Grandas de Salime – Alto del Acebo) to Peñafonte. By a deviation to the right one goes up to the town and it is crossed with south direction. Next to the last house there is a path that borders the slope of Monte Zarro and reaches a hill where it meets the road.
You walk through it a few meters, to the left, until the start of a path that ascends, to the right, to Monte de La Curiscada or Cuia. You can also make the climb by Bustelo del Camino. When arriving at the axis of summits the Jacobean route falls towards the right and descends with homogenous slope until arriving at the limit with Galicia that materializes in a firewall. As long as the connection with the continuation of the Way is not conditioned, it is necessary to go up about 50 meters.
On the right, the route is retaken and continues downhill to Alto del Acebo, a natural entrance into Galician lands for which the pilgrim will still travel about 180 kilometers to reach his goal in Santiago de Compostela.
