Lourenzá is separated from the city of Mondoñedo only by 9 km. Nowadays, Mondoñedo is one of the See of the Bishopric of Mondoñedo-Ferrol and is also cradle of great writers, among them it is impossible not to mention Álvaro Cunqueiro.
The old city is historic-artistic ensemble from 1985 whose most symbolic insignia is the cathedral, with a romanesque style with added and later changes, a national monument from 1902 and basilica from 1959. In its side naves, one of the most important sacred art museums of Galicia is found.
Before continuing with the route, it is advisable to taste the famous cake of Mondoñedo that will recharge our batteries for the way. After the walk along the history of Mondoñedo, the route goes by different parishes, in a landscape dominated by chestnuts, oak and eucalyptus trees.
